Rosenblatt's Tal Sung by Australian Cantor

On the first morning of Passover, the cantor recites a special prayer called "Tal" - "dew", we pray for dew to fall and moisten the crops without harming drying grain.

Many cantors have set music to this prayer, but the one which stands out is the one by Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt. This composition is sung ably by Cantor Yehudah Niasoff, associate cantor at the Central Synagogue of Sydney, Australia.

He is accompanied by Maestro Shimmy Miller and the Aaron Miller Memorial Choir.

Sefira Service - Cantor Shimshon Tzin

On the second night of Pesach we begin counting (Sefira) the Omer and conclude on the 49th day before the next festival - Shavout.

In many communities it is customary to recite a preparatory prayer before the blessing on the Omer. This prayer is commonly called Hineni and the music to this prayer was composed by Alman.

The counting is followed by another prayer titled Ribono Shel Olam - Master of the Universe. The music to this prayer was composed by Cantor Pinchik.

Both of these prayers are sung in the two clips by Cantor Shimshon Tzin.

Cantor Avraham Hillman, OB"M

By Rabbi Ben Elton
Chief Rabbi Great Synagogue Sydney, Australia

I was so sad to hear that Chazzan Avraham Hillman has passed away. He was a thrilling Chazan at the bimah. His High Holiday services, Sefirat HaOmer and even a regular Shabbat were always moving, passionate and creative.

He spent much of his week visiting patients in hospital, including my late grandmother.

He was a student of Leib Glanz, and to hear him sing his teacher's Shema Yisrael was a privilege. His davenning was a highlight of my teenage religious development. He was beloved in Manchester and beyond.

He was a true shaliach tzibbur and a tzaddik. Yehi zichro baruch.
